Kellogg School of Management: Northwestern University

The Kellogg School of Management develops global leaders in a culture of innovation and collaboration. Kellogg imparts Intellectual Depth, Leadership Skills and Social Responsibility, Experiential Learning and a Global Perspective to students in its Full-Time, Part-Time and Executive MBA programs and in its non-degree Executive Education courses.
The Kellogg School's unique approach to management education prepares students to become global leaders who can analyze an organization's structure in depth, find creative solutions to business challenges, and build consensus across diverse groups.
These are the qualities that distinguish the Kellogg School MBA graduate. Taught by a world-class, research-based faculty, and supported by a network of 50,000 alumni globally, today's students continue the legacy that began when the school was founded at Northwestern University in 1908. Today, Kellogg remains one of the world's most prestigious business schools.

Part Time Program:
The Kellogg School's Part-Time MBA Program in downtown Chicago offers top-quality academics, award winning faculty, networking opportunities, top classmates from varied professions and sense of community that exist only in Kellogg MBA programs. The Kellogg part-time programs also offer schedules, either evening or Saturday, that are designed to meet the needs of working professionals. Indeed, many students say they were drawn to the Kellogg part-time program because the class material is directly applicable to their job, and they can earn a Kellogg MBA without forgoing two years of work experience and advancement with their current employer. Students enrolled in the part-time program gain from exposure to an outstanding faculty with a reputation for scholarly achievement and consulting expertise, and from interaction with fellow students. These exposures and interactions combine with the academic curriculum to help students develop the insight and capacity to make on-the-job contributions that lead to executive responsibility.

Doctoral Program:
The principal objective of the Kellogg School's doctoral program is to train men and women for academic positions in universities where they will create and communicate new knowledge. Doctoral students are provided with the skills necessary to succeed as scholars: the ability to think critically, facility with rigorous research methods, knowledge of the relevant questions in their field and the motivation to continue learning throughout their career.
Kellogg seeks candidates who have a willingness and desire to do scholarly research. A previously earned graduate degree or work experience is not required for admission. Most students finish their PhD in four to five years of full-time study, making this course of study a serious commitment. Part-time or distance-learning study is not available.

Undergraduate Programs:
The Kellogg School of Management’s Certificate Program for Undergraduates addresses these needs, aligning business requirements with the exceptional talents of Northwestern University students. The program is open to Northwestern juniors and seniors — regardless of their school or major — who have strengths in mathematics and analysis and a grounding in the liberal arts, including students in Northwestern’s highly regarded math and engineering programs. The certificate program’s distinctive four-course curriculum develops students’ critical thinking and business applications skills with a foundation in the quantitative analysis that underlies all strategic business decisions. Analytical models taught in the program can be applied to business scenarios such as mergers and acquisitions, valuation, asset management, new products, strategy formulation, supply chain design, and pricing.

Executive Education:
Executive MBA Program:
Executive MBA students complete two years of study in general management, leading to an MBA degree. The program serves mid-career executives who have at least 8-10 years of managerial experience, as well as senior executives who wish to enhance their skills and leadership effectiveness. A majority of their students have an average of 12-15 years of work experience.
Teamwork is the hallmark of the Kellogg Executive MBA (EMBA) experience, both in and out of the classroom.

Faculty members combine real-world and academic knowledge of management problems to augment their theoretical training. Senior faculty members also teach courses to senior executives through the Kellogg School’s executive programs. This approach reinforces faculty research and keeps faculty members abreast of changes in corporate practices.
All Kellogg School courses combine theory and practice. Teaching methods include case study, field study, seminars, simulations, and independent work. Faculty members choose the method most appropriate to the material and their individual styles.

A robust and constantly expanding infrastructure gives students the technological tools they need to complete their coursework and participate in extracurricular activities. On campus, students access the Kellogg network through both wireless and wired Internet connections. Kellogg’s computing labs provide students with specialized software and peripheral resources for their laptops, including printers, large-screen monitors and scanners.
Sports and Recreation:

The Kellogg Student Association coordinates participation in a number of intramural sports, including basketball, floor hockey, broomball, volleyball, indoor soccer and softball. Kellogg School teams compete against other MBA programs in soccer, rugby and ice hockey. Northwestern University also offers sports leagues that compete at the club level.
